It’s the perfect time to get to know an area, especially if it’s one that you haven’t taken time to discover before. This month, we’re heading back to Hamilton and highlighting an area that’s perfect for anyone who loves supporting local businesses and having everything they need (almost!) at their front door – Westdale.
Why is this area of Hamilton such a hidden gem? Well, a quick walk through the neighbourhood will make you feel like you belong here. A picturesque community full of charming places to live, it is home to families, long-time locals and young,
established couples as well as students in the southern area near McMaster University. Centred around the lively area of Westdale Village, this is a community you don’t want to miss out on.

Take a stroll through the bustling village and surrounding area and you’ll find a lovely selection of favourite new places to grab a bite. Feast on Mediterranean fare at Basilique, enjoy some of Hamilton’s best sushi from Chef Martin’s Sushi House or grab a beefy (or vegetarian-friendly) burger at Delirious Burger Co. Eat like a local at one of the neighbourhood’s most popular spots, like Paisley Coffeehouse and Eatery, The Bean Bar, or The Snooty Fox. If something hot and comforting is more your speed, lunch at The Burnt Tongue will be right up your alley.
And don’t forget to check out one of Westdale’s newest, Chung Chun Rice Dogs. While this popular new addition to the neighbourhood often has a lineup out the door, it’s worth the wait to try their delicious Korean-style hotdogs.
